What year did you begin teaching? I began teaching right out of college as a long term substitute teacher in Genesee, Clio, then Birch Run High Schools.  I continued to substitute teach one day a week  until my children were in pre-school.

How long have you been teaching at Holy Family?  I have been at Holy Family since 2000.

Favorite Subjects:  Literature and Geography

Why I chose to become a teacher:  I love to learn, and I love helping young people learn not only academics but about themselves as people.

What I like most about teaching at Holy Family:  I love the support from the families here at Holy Family and their commitment to their children’s education and faith.  I also feel that my colleagues are like family, especially my JH colleagues.

How your faith influences teaching:  My faith enters into lessons whether in English, geography, or religion.  My faith enters in directly with the content and indirectly when I plan my lessons-what I want to accomplish with them, what I want the students to learn, how I want them to grow as people.

Your favorite bible passage:  There are many quotes from the Bible that give me strength, encouragement, and hope.  One of my favorite quotes is actually from St. Augustine: “The World is a book, and those who do not travel, read only a page.”  My family has traveled all 50 states together.  We have learned much about ourselves, each other, and people from around the U.S. through our travels.  We have seen the beauty of God’s earth from the Grand Canyon, Rockies, Tetons, glaciers, volcanoes, etc.  Because I also teach geography, this quote also has special meaning to my teaching.
